The Jacklamp™ is a LED lamp in a jack1 package, which you simply fit on the end of a matching2 powered cable, and it emits radiation for task lighting, signaling or indication3. See these proto-movies 1st USB, 2nd USB, 1st Firewire™ and 2nd Firewire™
The Jacklamp Caddy™ is an accessory that stores, carries and in the absence of a matching2 powered cable, provides power to a Jacklamp™. The Jacklamp Caddy™ consists of a power source, a carrier plug, a jack, a case and a switch to apply power to either the jack or the plug. Read more in Jacklamp Caddy™ FAQ

1. A jack is a female connector also know as a socket or a receptacle, which can receive a plug or male connector.
2. e.g. a USB Jacklamp™ on a USB cable, a Firewire™ Jacklamp™ on Firewire™ cable, etc.
3. e.g. identify a single cable in a bundle or at a remote location, the health of a cables power circuit, etc.
